Bergen

Bergen is small enough to walk and steep enough that you’ll feel it. The old wharf, Bryggen, runs for a few hundred meters along the harbor. The fish market sits across from it, open year-round in its modern indoor incarnation. Mount Fløyen rises immediately behind the city — a seven-minute funicular gets you onto the trail network. The art scene is denser than the city’s size suggests. Plan for rain even if the forecast disagrees.
